Challenge Details

If you haven't had the opportunity to read the introduction, now would be a great time to do so.  This will give you a better understanding of how this challenge blog came to be.

Each month we will have a challenge that will start on the first day of the month and end on the last day of the month. We invite you to come over and link up any Christmas and/or ***holiday themed cards that you create each month throughout the year (maximum of three only if you are participating in the optional theme, otherwise unlimited--more details to follow below). It will provide you with a place to showcase your own creations and be inspired by others joining in, to keep ahead of or potentially even avoid, the year end holiday card panic that hits so many of us in December.

A Little Incentive...

At the end of each month, every person who has linked up a MINIMUM of two (2) Christmas or ***holiday themed cards will be eligible to receive a specially designed Christmas themed digital paper created by Lisa Décosse from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles. If you have linked up two cards and earned the free paper, it will be mailed to the email address that you submitted when linking up. Papers are delivered generally within a week of when the monthly winner announcement is posted.

That means that if you submit two cards each month of the year, you will have received 12 free digital papers (the standard size of a digital pack of papers), all for the low cost of linking up cards you need to create anyway. You do not need to use the digital paper you receive each month in your cards in order to get the next paper. They are strictly meant as incentive to participate.

But wait there's more incentive...

Now that The 12 Months of Christmas has its own home, we have expanded the link up to include an optional theme each month and have brought on some sponsors. Anyone who submits a card adhering to the monthly theme, will have the chance to win a prize from that month's guest sponsor.

If you decide to follow the optional theme for a month, please be sure to add the letters "FT" after your name so that we know you followed the theme.  For example, Lisa FT.  After checking to make sure that you have indeed followed the theme, you will receive an entry into the draw for the sponsor's prize. In order to make it fair for everyone, we will only be able to consider a maximum of three cards that have followed the theme, for the draw.

You will still be allowed to link up as many Christmas and/or ***holiday cards during the month that you would like, it is simply that for each card following the optional monthly theme, there will be a limit of three that will be considered for the draw.

...And even more...

Each month, we have a random draw from all the entries and award the special mini digital paper kit featured for that particular month, to one lucky individual. This is the same kit of six digi papers that each of the team members receives as part of their 'payment' each month. Since, the papers are all made, we figured, why not have an extra prize for our players?! So, for example, if you submit eight cards to the challenge one month, you will have eight chances to win these extra goodies. How is that for even more incentive?!

Examples to help you understand...

In case you are a little confused, here are a few different scenarios to help make this a bit clearer (please note that all names are fictitious and do not represent any one particular person):
    • Nora makes six Christmas cards that she wants to link up. She has followed the theme for two of her cards. When she links up the two cards following the theme she will put 'Nora FT' in the name area. When she links up the remaining four cards during the month, she will just put 'Nora' in the name area. At the end of the month she will qualify to receive her free paper since she linked up more than two cards. Additionally, her name will be entered into the draw for the sponsor's prize twice. Finally, she will have earned six entries to receive that month's featured digital paper mini kit.
    • Jessalyn makes four Christmas cards that she wants to link up. None of them follow the theme. When she links up the four cards throughout the month, she will simply put 'Jessalyn' in the name area. At the end of the month she will qualify to receive her free paper since she linked up more than two cards and she will earn four entries to receive that month's featured digital paper mini kit. However, she will not have her name entered into the draw for that month's sponsored prize as she did not follow the theme.
    • Shelby makes one Christmas card that she wants to link up. She did not follow the theme. She will not earn a free paper for that month since she didn't link up two cards and she will not have her name entered into the draw for that month's sponsored prize as she did not follow the theme. However, she will earn one entry to receive that month's featured digital paper mini kit.
    • Lily makes two Christmas cards that she wants to link up. She has followed the theme for one of her cards. When she links up the card following the theme, she will put 'Lily FT' in the name area. When she links up the remaining card that month, she will just put 'Lily' in the name area. At the end of the month she will qualify to receive her free paper since she linked up a minimum of two cards. Additionally, her name will be entered into the draw for the sponsor's prize once. Finally, she will have earned two entries to receive that month's featured digital paper mini kit.
    • Abigail creates eight cards that she wants to link up. She has followed the theme for all of them. When she links up each card she will put 'Abigail FT' in the name area. At the end of the month she will qualify to receive her free paper since she linked up more than two cards and she will earn eight entries to receive that month's featured digital paper mini kit. However, even though all eight cards followed the theme, she will only earn three entries into the draw for the sponsor's prize to make the odds of winning fair for all participants who also followed the theme.
We hope that helps you to understand things a little bit easier. If you are still not clear, please do not hesitate to send us a message asking for clarification.

    RULES

The rules are simple and similar to what you would find on most challenge blogs:
    • You must enter a card. The goal of this challenge is to help you keep ahead with your Christmas cards so other types of creations (tags, scrapbook pages, altered items, etc.) will not be accepted.
    • You can enter as many times as you would like to enter each month as long as each entry is with a new project. No backlinking. Just remember the more you enter the better your chance will be of winning the monthly featured digital paper kit.
    • If you decide to follow along for the optional theme during a month, once again you can make as many cards as you want following the theme but only a maximum of three entries will qualify for the draw for that month's prize from a guest sponsor.
    • You can combine your entry with as many other challenges as you would like to combine it with.
    • You can use any image from any company that you would like. You don't need to use the digital paper that you may receive each month (if you upload a minimum of two cards) in order to qualify to receive the next month's paper. Of course, I would love to see a card created using one of these papers!
    • Make sure when entering your project that you mention The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up in your post with a link back to this blog.
    • Please remember to link directly to your blog post where we can see your creation, and not just the generic link to your blog. Generic blog links will be disqualified. The team members are extremely busy and do not have time to scroll through your entire blog in order to find your entry. If you are unsure how to add a direct link to the post with the card you are entering, please ask.
    • If you do not have a blog, we will accept entries posted on Face Book (FB), or in any type of on-line gallery such as Split Coast Stampers, Flickr, etc.. However, please note that all the same rules apply.
    • If you post your project in a private group, the odds are that we will not be able to see it. Any creations posted in private groups that are not visible to the public, will not qualify for any prizes.
    • It is possible that team members may not be able to leave a comment on your creation. Team members are assigned a rotation of numbers to comment on and it is possible that they may be unable to leave comments on FB or in other on-line galleries, if they do not happen to have an account with these organizations. Additionally, if you have a blog on Blogger and only allow comments from Google + members, the likelihood is that we will not be able to leave a comment.
    • To qualify to receive the free digital paper for the month, you must link up two cards no later than 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month. For example, your two cards must be linked up by 11:59 p.m. on:
      •  January 31
      • February 28 (or the 29th during a leap year)
      • March 31
      • April 30
      • May 31
      • June 30
      • July 31
      • August 31
      • September 30
      • October 31
      • November 30
      • December 31
    • If you have linked up two cards and earned the free paper for a particular month, it will be mailed to the email address that you submitted when linking up. Papers are delivered generally within a week or so of when the monthly winner announcement is posted. Now if by chance you are certain that you linked up two cards for a specific month but do not receive your paper within a couple weeks of the winner announcement for said month, be sure to contact us. It is very possible that it may be an oversight. We'll be sure to look into it for you.
